Abstract

Since 2021,Japan has been continuing to make breakthroughs in space debris removal technologies and is poised to become a leading country in space environmental governance area.Japan's space debris removal technologies research background was analyzed herein, which includes military and commercial space requirements and technical basis.A series of recent development was summarized, such as Japan taking the lead in the validation of magnetic capture technology for low orbit cooperative targets, and starting to develop spacecraft platforms that serve low orbit cooperative small satellites. The strategic measures taken by the Japanese government were analyzed, such as overall support, gradual development, and active international cooperation.
