Due to the continuous deployment of giant constellations such as Starlink,LEO space debris has shown an explosive growth trend, and active de-orbiting technology is urgently needed to slow down debris growth. In order to verify the active de-orbit technology based on membrane spherical sail, the active de-orbit mission design for the BP-1b satellite was carried out,and the orbital mechanics model of BP-1b was established. The orbital lifetime of BP-1b was calculated and the key parameters of the active de-orbit membrane spherical sail were designed by using the lifetime analysis and NRLMSISE 2000 atmospheric density model. The design, development, system integration, ground vacuum environment deployment and mechanical adaptability research of the spherical sail with a diameter of 0.5m were completed, and the on-orbit flight demonstration verification was completed from July to August 2019.The test results have shown that the spherical sail successfully deployed in orbit and realized the active de-orbit of BP-1b satellite.
